I recently had a client who was totally stressed out. Now it seems that when we get this way it is about one of two things, love or money. In his situation it was about money. More specifically, about work.
What was stressing him out was that nobody at his job seemed to give a damn about what they were doing. He was in charge of a group of people who just didn’t seem to care about the quality of work they were producing. He was in a large company and was quite helpless to instill any sense of caring in his employees.
This made me think of how, when I was a student, I got a job at the city of Camrose (Alberta) parks department. After a few days at the job, some permanent workers took me aside and explained how I was making them look bad by working as hard as I did. They told me I had better slow down.
The answer seems to be to learn how to tolerate those who don’t care so, at least, you don’t end up becoming a victim of employee stress at work.
Anyone else ever experience this? I’m sure it’s more prevalent than just the above two stores would suggest.
