Stress is glue; it clings to everything. Pictures these images: alarm clocks, departures terminals, flashing lights in the rear view mirror . . . if these triggers are associated with a difficult situation, then stress is guaranteed to be smeared all over those objects and places.
But guess what – and please, don’t take this for granted – relaxation has a similar ability to adhere. Consider a cup of tea in the morning, the daily paper, your favourite band on the radio: what do they inspire? They inspire the “ahh” reflex. And that reflex oozes with relaxation.
And that’s why today’s blog post matters. It’s easy to become consumed in the momentum of work, responsibility, LIFE and so on. But don’t forget: stress, relaxation – mindsets – will stick to the elements with which you surround yourself.
With that in mind, here’s how to reduce stress in less than 30 seconds. As soon as you get home, as soon as it’s time to divide your day between work and family, or work and company, or work and a break from everyone else, change your clothes immediately. Take out the sweatpants and slippers – take out the mindset you want to create.
Because emotions stick to the clothes we wear, and you can’t truly drop your guard while still in a suit with the tie round your neck (or wearing the bra that digs into your shoulders).
This is such a simple method for relaxation. Change your clothes, change your mind.
What’s the first thing you do to relax? I’m definitely up for trying new ideas, and I’m sure many who read this blog are too. Please share and make our day a little better.
To your success !
